Depressive Disorders
Depressive Disorders are officially called “Mood Disorders.” There are several types of mood disorders. The one thing they all have in common is that at some point there is a depressed mood. Dysthymia involves a chronically depressed mood that is present most of the time. Medication appears to help with severe depression, especially when used in combination with counseling. Mild to moderate depression can often be treated successfully with counseling and no medication. If you are currently taking an antidepressant, do not discontinue without first speaking with your medical doctor.
